Illumnify Tutoring was the perfect solution for boys. From the very beginning, Ilona impressed me with her professionalism. The intake process was thorough, and she took the time to understand the individual strengths and weaknesses of each child and even what they were learning in school. Based on this, Ilona developed a personalized teaching plan that addressed their specific needs and learning styles, ensuring it complemented what they were already being taught in the classroom. About me

My name is Ilona van Dantzig

Before you sign up your child to tutoring with me, you'd probably like to know a little more about me, my background and qualifications.

 

I am the tutor for primary school and early secondary in my practice Illumnify Tutoring. I:

​

  • am a fully qualified primary teacher and have taught various age groups as a class teacher for 10 years.

  • have 9 years of experience of maths remedial teaching and tutoring

  • 7 years as a Learning Support Coordinator (or Intern Begleider in Dutch).

  • have an advanced diploma in ' Overcoming Barriers to Learning in Mathematics.'

 

Overall,  I have 20+ years in education​. ​​​​​​

It is my mission to support children and young people to grow their confidence in themselves and their abilities; and to fulfil their potential. This initially with a focus in maths.  Everybody is capable of maths given the right support and teaching; and it is vital in our everyday lives as well as careers. I have also extended into supporting study skills (including organisation) as a lack in these skills can stop a student from showing their full potential.

I provide a personalized approach, looking at the whole student and their needs, strengths and interests. For me the key to any good tutoring is building a relationship with your child, and really connecting with them to understand what works for them. I also work on building their confidence, self-knowledge and shifting their mindset if needed. I do this using my strengths of patience, tenacity, openness and understanding, and ability to bring my full presence and attention. I also use the skills I have gained through my transformative coaching qualification from Animas (accredited by the International Coaching Federation and European Mentoring and Coaching Centre) as appropriate.
